Profoto is a global leader in professional lighting systems for photography, widely regarded as one of the most influential companies in the imaging industry.
Andrea Belluso was head-hunted by Profoto for his international expertise in light shaping and his deep understanding of lighting as both a technical and creative language.
His collaboration with Profoto spans over a decade and evolved across multiple roles, beginning as Academy Manager. In this position, he was responsible for conceiving, developing and delivering a global lighting education programme aimed initially at distributors and retail partners (B2B), with the objective of deepening technical understanding of light shaping tools and their applications. The programme later expanded to include professional photographers worldwide (B2C), focusing on creativity, visual language and the expressive potential of light.
As the collaboration developed, Andrea also took on the role of Creative Director and Photographer for numerous campaigns across different product categories, contributing to the brand’s global visual communication.
One of the most recognisable outcomes of this collaboration is the long-running video series “Tips and Tricks from The Light Shaper”, which became widely known within the international photographic community. It was through this series that Andrea became publicly associated with the title “The Light Shaper,” a name that has since defined his professional identity.
In this series, Andrea acted as Creative Director, educator and on-camera presenter, combining technical instruction with creative storytelling to demonstrate the expressive possibilities of light shaping in practical, real-world scenarios.
In many episodes, the series also integrated collaborations with editorial and commercial partners, allowing cross-promotional storytelling between education, brand communication and client visibility. At the time, this approach was relatively innovative, anticipating what later became a more common form of multi-brand content integration within visual education platforms.
Across both global campaigns and educational tours, the collaboration contributed to significant increases in brand engagement and market performance, including a reported uplift of up to 70% in the Middle East following Andrea’s regional tour.
